Tour Overview

Join our 4-Day Morocco Student Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga and discover some of southern Morocco's most impressive landscapes, historic sites and cultural experiences. Designed for university students, Erasmus groups and young travelers, this affordable Sahara adventure combines sightseeing, outdoor activities and time to enjoy Morocco with your classmates and friends.

Travel from Marrakech across the High Atlas Mountains, visit the famous Aït Ben Haddou Kasbah, explore the Dades Valley and Todra Gorge, and continue to the golden dunes of Merzouga and Erg Chebbi. The Sahara experience includes a camel ride at sunset, sandboarding, a traditional desert dinner and Berber music around the campfire.

Itinerary

A detailed day-by-day journey through Morocco's most breathtaking landscapes.

Day 1

Marrakech → High Atlas Mountains → Aït Ben Haddou → Dades Valley

Your 4-Day Morocco Student Tour begins in Marrakech with an early departure toward the High Atlas Mountains. Cross the spectacular Tizi n'Tichka Pass, stopping at panoramic viewpoints to admire the mountain scenery and traditional Amazigh villages. Continue toward southern Morocco and visit the UNESCO-listed Aït Ben Haddou, one of the country's most famous fortified villages. Walk through its narrow paths, discover its earthen architecture and enjoy time for photographs.

After lunch, continue toward Ouarzazate, often known as the gateway to the Sahara, before driving through the scenic Rose Valley toward the Dades Valley. Along the way, your group can stop at viewpoints and local villages. In the afternoon, arrive at your hotel or riad in the Dades Valley, where you can relax after the journey and enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner.

Day 2

Dades Valley → Todra Gorge → Erfoud → Rissani → Merzouga

After breakfast, continue your student adventure toward the Sahara Desert. Begin with a drive through the dramatic landscapes of the Dades region before reaching Todra Gorge, where enormous canyon walls rise above the valley. Enjoy a short walk and take photographs before continuing through the desert landscapes toward Erfoud, famous for fossils and dates.

The route then passes through Rissani, an important historic trading town and gateway to the Sahara. In the afternoon, arrive in Merzouga, where the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi begin to stretch across the horizon. Leave your vehicle and meet your camel guides for a sunset camel trek through the dunes. After reaching the desert camp, enjoy dinner, traditional Berber music and time around the campfire with your student group before spending the night beneath the Sahara sky.

~300 km Sahara Desert Camp, Merzouga Breakfast & Dinner
Day 3

Merzouga Sahara Experience → Draa Valley → Ouarzazate

Wake up early to experience the beautiful Sahara sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes. After breakfast, return from the camp and begin the journey toward western Morocco. The route takes you through the dramatic landscapes surrounding Merzouga before continuing toward the Draa Valley, known for its extensive palm groves, traditional villages and ancient kasbahs. This is an excellent opportunity for students to see a different side of southern Morocco and learn about oasis life.

Continue toward Ouarzazate, with scenic stops along the way depending on your group's schedule. After a full day on the road, arrive at your accommodation in the Ouarzazate or nearby area. Spend the evening relaxing with your friends and enjoying dinner. Staying outside Marrakech tonight makes the final journey easier and avoids turning the return trip into an unnecessarily exhausting drive.

~360 km Ouarzazate Breakfast & Dinner
Day 4

Ouarzazate → High Atlas Mountains → Marrakech

After breakfast, begin the final day of your Morocco student trip with a journey back toward Marrakech. Before leaving Ouarzazate, there may be time for a short photo stop or a visit to one of the area's famous kasbahs, depending on your group's departure time. Continue north through the changing landscapes of southern Morocco and cross the High Atlas Mountains once again via the Tizi n'Tichka Pass.

Along the route, enjoy panoramic views of mountain valleys, villages and winding roads. There will be opportunities for short breaks and refreshments before descending toward Marrakech. Arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon or early evening, depending on traffic and the stops chosen by your group. Your 4-Day Morocco Student Tour from Marrakech to Merzouga ends with drop-off at your accommodation or another agreed location in Marrakech.
