A detailed day-by-day journey through Morocco's most breathtaking landscapes.

Day 1

Fes → Ifrane → Azrou → Midelt → Ziz Valley → Merzouga

Your 5-day Fes to Marrakech desert tour begins with a morning departure from Fes. Travel south through the Middle Atlas Mountains, stopping in Ifrane, a charming mountain town known for its distinctive architecture and cool climate.

Continue through the cedar forests near Azrou, where Barbary macaques may sometimes be seen. The road then climbs through mountain landscapes toward Midelt, an important town between the Middle and High Atlas ranges.

After lunch, continue toward the Ziz Valley. Stop at a panoramic viewpoint to admire the spectacular oasis, palm groves and rocky cliffs stretching through the valley.

As you approach Merzouga, the landscape changes dramatically as the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi appear. In the late afternoon, begin your camel trek into the Sahara. Enjoy the sunset from the dunes before arriving at your private desert camp for dinner, Berber music and an evening beneath the stars.

Day 2

Merzouga: Full Sahara Desert Experience

Wake early to watch the sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes before enjoying breakfast. Today is dedicated to discovering the Sahara around Merzouga, giving you time to experience the desert beyond the camp.

Travel by private 4×4 to visit a local nomadic family and learn about traditional desert life. Continue to Khamlia village, where you can experience the rhythms of Gnawa music, an important musical tradition of southeastern Morocco.

The route can also include areas known for fossils and minerals, reflecting the geological richness of the region. Depending on the season and local conditions, you may visit the seasonal lake near Merzouga, where migratory birds can sometimes be found.

Return toward Merzouga for lunch and enjoy some free time during the afternoon. You can try sandboarding on the dunes, relax at your accommodation or simply enjoy the Sahara scenery.

Later, watch the sunset before spending a relaxed evening in the Merzouga area.

Day 3

Merzouga → Rissani → Erfoud → Todra Gorge → Dades Valley

After breakfast, leave Merzouga and begin your journey toward the Dades Valley. Start with a stop in Rissani, a historic Saharan trading town known for its traditional souk and local atmosphere. If the market is open, it is an excellent opportunity to see local products and traditional commerce.

Continue to Erfoud, famous for fossils and mineral products, before traveling through the changing landscapes of southeastern Morocco.

Reach the Todra Gorge, where enormous limestone cliffs rise dramatically on both sides of the narrow valley. Take a walk through the gorge and enjoy the impressive natural surroundings.

Continue through the palm-filled oases and villages of the region toward the Dades Valley. The landscape becomes increasingly dramatic, with red cliffs, winding roads and unusual rock formations.

After lunch, continue to Aït Ben Haddou, one of Morocco's most famous fortified villages and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore its narrow paths, earthen buildings and panoramic viewpoints over the surrounding landscape.

Continue through the Ounila region toward the High Atlas foothills before reaching your accommodation. Enjoy the evening in the area and prepare for the final journey to Marrakech.
