Tangier: Arrival & City Tour

Welcome to Morocco! Your 12-day Morocco tour begins in Tangier, the fascinating northern gateway where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean. After meeting your private driver at the airport, port or hotel, begin exploring this historic city. Tangier has long attracted travelers, artists and writers because of its unique international character and strategic location.

Visit the atmospheric Kasbah, wander through the old medina and explore the Grand Socco, one of the city's lively gathering places. Continue toward the coast to admire spectacular views across the Strait of Gibraltar. You can also visit Cap Spartel, where the Atlantic and Mediterranean are traditionally considered to meet, followed by the nearby Hercules Caves.

After sightseeing, transfer to your hotel or riad and enjoy your first evening in Morocco. Take time to relax, explore the surrounding streets or enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner.

~60 km Tangier Breakfast
Day 2

Tangier → Chefchaouen

After breakfast, leave Tangier and travel toward the spectacular Rif Mountains to Chefchaouen, one of Morocco's most beautiful and photographed destinations. Known as the "Blue Pearl of Morocco," Chefchaouen is famous for its blue-painted houses, narrow streets, flower-filled corners and peaceful mountain atmosphere.

Upon arrival, check into your traditional riad before exploring the medina on foot. Wander through its charming lanes and discover small artisan shops selling handmade textiles, leather goods, pottery and local crafts. Continue toward Plaza Uta el-Hammam, the heart of the old town, where you can relax at a café and watch everyday Moroccan life unfold.

For wonderful panoramic views, walk toward the Spanish Mosque area around sunset. The surrounding Rif Mountains provide a beautiful backdrop as the blue city changes color in the evening light. Enjoy a relaxed dinner and your first night in Chefchaouen.

Day 3

Chefchaouen → Volubilis → Moulay Idriss → Meknes → Fes

Today, your Grand Morocco tour continues toward the imperial cities of northern Morocco. Leave Chefchaouen after breakfast and drive through beautiful countryside toward the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis. Explore the archaeological site, where you can admire remarkably preserved mosaics, columns, temples and ancient streets.

Continue to the holy town of Moulay Idriss, built dramatically across two hills and named after Morocco's first Islamic ruler. Enjoy a short visit and admire the town's unique architecture and surrounding landscapes.

Continue to Meknes, one of Morocco's four imperial cities. Discover highlights including Bab Mansour, the monumental gateway, the historic medina and the former royal granaries and stables.

Your guide will help you understand the history, architecture and traditions behind the city rather than simply showing you the sights. You will also have time to discover local handicrafts, including leather, ceramics, textiles and traditional Moroccan products.

Depending on your interests, you may also visit seasonal nomadic settlements or enjoy a peaceful walk through the nearby desert landscapes.

The afternoon is free to relax at your accommodation or participate in optional desert activities such as 4×4 dune exploration, quad biking or sandboarding.

As evening approaches, enjoy another opportunity to admire the vast Sahara landscape and its changing colors. The clear desert sky is particularly beautiful after sunset, offering excellent conditions for stargazing.

Stop at Todra Gorge, where enormous limestone cliffs rise dramatically on both sides of the narrow valley. Take a walk through the gorge and enjoy the impressive natural scenery.

Continue through the palm-filled oasis and Berber villages toward the Dades Valley. The landscape changes constantly, with dramatic rock formations, agricultural terraces and winding mountain roads.
